You have the ability to calculate what parts need replenishing based on the SKU. There are two ways to run parts replenishment by SKU:
To run parts replenishment by SKU without full dynamic calculations
This procedure explains how to run the Dynamic Stocking Suggestion report, which calculates the minimum and maximum quantities based on sales records, and then explains how to run the parts replenishment by SKU based on the calculated minimum and maximum quantities.
Prerequisites
Stocking templates have been created.
-
SKUs have been assigned to parts. A part's Stockkeeping Unit card must have the following:
A value of Dynamic-Stock in the Stocking Method field is required in order for SKU to be considered by the Use Full Dynamic Stocking Calculations function.
-
A value in the Stocking Template Code field.
Clear the Use Full Dynamic Stocking Calculations check box on the Replenishment tab of the Parts Setup window.
-
Run the Dynamic Stocking Suggestion report.
Note: Typically this report is scheduled to run on a periodic basis. When creating the job queue entry, follow the steps in the How to: Create Job Queue Entries and use 23025000 as the Object ID to Run.
The report populates the following fields on the Stocking FastTab on a part's Stockkeeping Unit Card:
Safety Stock Quantity: This field is populated with the value from the Current Min. Stock field if the associated Stocking Template code has a value of Safety Stock in the Min Value Is field.
Reorder Point: This field is populated with the value from the Current Min. Stock field if the associated Stocking Template code has a value of Reorder Point in the Min Value Is field.
Maximum Inventory: This field is populated with the value from the Current Max. Stock field.
-
Calculate replenishment by SKU.
Open the Requisition Worksheet (Departments/Purchase/Order Processing).
-
Delete any lines that are on the worksheet.
-
On the Home tab, in the Process group, choose Calculate Plan by SKU. The Calc. Plan - Req. Wksh. By SKU window opens.
-
Enter the following information:
Order Date: Specifies the date to use for new orders. This date is used to evaluate the inventory.
-
Ending Date: Specifies the date where the planning period ends. Demand is not included beyond this date.
-
Use Forecast: Specifies a forecast that should be included as demand when running the planning batch job.
-
Exclude Forecast Before: Specifies how much of the selected forecast to include in the planning run by entering a date before which forecast demand is not included.
-
Replenishment Code: Specifies the replenishment code.
-
Calc. Req. Line Transfer Opp.: Select the check box if you want transfer to be considered.
-
Include Service Van: Select this check box if you also want to consider service vans in the calculation.
-
Force SKU Planning Calculation: This field isn't used in the calculation.
-
Click OK.
The calculation runs through the SKUs, and finds SKUs where the availability is below the minimum amount defined for the SKU (these minimums were defined when the Dynamic Stocking Suggestion report was run). The calculation also considers the quantity on hand, as well as the quantity on any orders.
Once the worksheet is populated, you can review the results, adjust as required, and then carry-out the actions.
To calculate availability by SKU with full dynamic calculations
This procedure calculates the minimum and maximum quantities for the SKU and calculates the availability.
Note: Due to the number of SKUs and calculations, this process may be slow.
Select the Use Full Dynamic Stocking Calculations check box on the Replenishment tab of the Parts Setup window.
-
Calculate availability by SKU.

Enter the following information:
Order Date: Specifies the date to use for new orders. This date is used to evaluate the inventory.

Replenishment Code: Specifies the replenishment code.
-
Calc. Req. Line Transfer Opp.: Select the check box if you want transfer to be considered.
-
Include Service Van: Select this check box if you also want to consider service vans in the calculation.
-
Force SKU Planning Calculation: Select this check box if you want to force the planning calculations.
-
Click OK.
The calculation populates the minimum and maximum values for the SKU, and then calculates the availability based on the SKU values.
